Work From Home Tips from SLG

We have now officially entered the age of COVID-19. So, what does that mean for your day-to-day life and work arrangements? Since the CDC has encouraged telecommuting, several large companies such as Google, Facebook, and Amazon have transitioned their employees to work remotely, separating their office populations to mitigate the risk of spreading the virus.

Here at Snyderman Law Group, our entire workforce has been telecommuting for quite some time. Since we have been virtual, we have certainly discovered what works and what doesn’t for our business. We do know that might not be an easy transition for people who are new to the concept, so that is why we have developed our own best practices to help guide you along your new remote work journey. We hope this helps you and good luck!

Marc

  • It’s easy to get distracted – if you don’t turn the tv on at work, don’t turn it on at home
  • Use video conferencing tools – they are free and easy and really keep you connected
  • Don’t snack too much 😊

Antonella

  • Limit social media during working hours – only check it at designated times during the day. It can break your concentration
  • Take a lunch break to refresh you for the afternoon
  • Set boundaries with family/friends – just because you are working from home, doesn’t mean you can talk on the phone for an hour

Jenna

  • Have a dedicated work space in your home so you can separate yourself
  • Create weekly/daily to do lists and keep them in sight, whether that is on a wall in front of you, or sticky note on desk
  • Instant messaging is a great tool to use when working remote and is just as great as office conversations!
